If you choose the Start-to-Vespa lesson, your guide will give you an introduction to riding a Vespa on your arrival day. You’ll go on a test ride together, so you’ll be ready to start your Vespa trip the next day! The lesson costs €50 per person, and you can keep the Vespa afterwards.

No. But if you’ve never driven a Vespa or scooter before or if you are very inexperienced/unsure, we strongly recommend to book the Start-to-Vespa lesson.
On your arrival day you’ll get Vespa driving lesson from the guide and you will make a test ride together. Afterwards you’ll be ready to start your Vespa trip the next day! This lesson costs € 50 per person.
Note: To be able to drive them in Italy, you need a car driving license (B) or a motorbike driving license (A). The AM license is not sufficient.
You must have an European driving license. If you don’t have one, you are obliged to have an international driving license, which you can apply for in your country.
Residents of the UK do not need a European driver’s license. Their driver’s license is valid for driving our Vespas in Italy.
A helmet and closed shoes (so no flip-flops or sandals) are always mandatory when riding a Vespa on our Vespa trips.
The rest is up to you: long pants, shorts, t-shirt, dress, a top… whatever you prefer. We recommend to also check the weather forecast to see if you’ll need a raincoat or poncho. You can store it under your seat and take it out when needed.
As we offer a fully organised trip, it is not possible to adjust the duration or itinerary. However, you are free to extend your trip independently by spending a few extra days on site afterwards, for example, or continuing your journey to another country.
Yes! It’s possible, but there is a supplement of €130 per single driver, because the Vespa Trip prices are calculated with the assumption that the Vespa is shared between 2 people.

From 3 PM onwards, you are welcome to check in. Your Vespa will be ready for you the following morning. Later on your arrival day, you have to go to the Vespa shop to arrange the paperwork for your Vespa rental. Afterwards your guide will personally welcome you and provide a detailed introduction to the journey ahead.
No worries if you arrive earlier than 3 PM, because then you can leave your luggage at the reception until your room is ready.

Unfortunately we can’t book extra nights for you. If you’re arriving a few days earlier or would like to stay longer after the trip, we wouldn’t necessarily recommend staying in Pisa. You’ll have already seen plenty of the city during the trip. Instead, we’d recommend heading to Florence or Lucca, for example. Both cities are easy to reach by train. Or perhaps you could head towards the coast and add an extra dimension to your trip?

You are automatically insured for damage to third parties with your Vespa.
For damage to your own Vespa you have two choices. Either you choose the omnium insurance (€ 89 per Vespa in Amalfi, Puglia, Chianti, Veneto and Sardinia, €99 per Vespa in Tuscany), where the own risk is € 0.
If you don’t want this insurance, a deposit of € 500 is required for which you are liable.
In Amalfi, Puglia, Sicily, Veneto and Sardinia you'll receive your Vespa the morning after your arrival day and you bring it back on the last driving day in the evening.
If you want to receive the keys of the Vespa a bit earlier, or want to keep it a bit longer, you can choose for the ‘Early Pick-Up’ and/or ‘Late Drop-Off’. So the Vespa is yours from 2pm on your arrival day and/or you can return it at 2pm on your departure day. Per option chosen you pay a supplement of €50 per Vespa.
In Tuscany you have to pick up your Vespa at the Vespa rental on the morning of your first driving day and you bring it back in the evening of the last driving day. Unfortunately it is not possible to rent the Vespa earlier or keep it longer.
You are automatically covered for damage caused to third parties in the event of an accident with your Vespa. However, any damage you might have suffered yourself, does not fall under this insurance. This is usually covered by your own travel or medical insurance. Don’t have this? Then you can book a travel insurance through Travelbase. Feel free to ask!
Damage to your own Vespa is insured if you choose the omnium damage insurance.
Our Vespas are 125cc. To ride them in Italy, you need either a car driving licence (B) or a motorbike licence (A). An AM licence is not sufficient.
You must have a European driving licence. If you don’t have one, you’ll need an international driving permit, which you can apply for in your home country.
UK residents do not need a European driving licence. A valid UK driving licence is sufficient to ride our Vespas in Italy.
The choice is yours! If you prefer to ride solo, you can book the GPS in which all routes are loaded. This way you’ll easily pass the most beautiful tracks and most interesting stops.

Our guides can usually assist you in English, Dutch, German and French. We try to have a multilingual duo at each destination, so you can communicate with them in different languages.
The guides are on standby 24/7 to answer your questions and assist you. They’ll drive the routes with those who want to ride as a group. One week before your trip, you’ll be added to a chat in the app, where you can stay in touch with them.

When making a booking, you can choose how much flexibility you want. Check the different booking conditions, as well as the corresponding payment, modification and cancellation conditions.
The Superflex cancellation conditions are available for anyone who books early.
You can reschedule your trip to another period within the same season (depending on availability) or cancel for free before a certain date, which is clearly stated on the registration form.
If the deadline to use the Superflex conditions has passed, the general cancellation conditions apply.
Depending on availability, you can add or remove most options until the check-in date. Generally, we follow a first-come, first-served principle, so early decision-makers are at an advantage.
Right after your registration, you must pay a deposit to confirm your trip. After that, you still have until the check-in date to modify your options and pay the remaining balance.
There are various payment options, including Bancontact, Mastercard, iDeal. If you have a Travelbase voucher, you can use it as well.
If your payment fails, it is likely due to an incorrect reference number or exceeding your account limit.
This trip is perfect for everyone that love the beauty of Italy and adventure. The average age of The Vespa Tripper in 2026 was 44 years, of which the majority were in their mid-twenties and mid-fifties. All Vespa Trippers, young or old, share the same love for Vespa riding and La Dolce Vita.
During the last edition, 34 nationalities were represented on our trips, with the majority of participants coming from Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and France.
Yes, children are welcome to join The Vespa Trip. Although this trip is not specifically aimed at children, a few children join us every year.
It should be taken into account that the trip is not specifically organised for children/families, and that the guides on site unfortunately do not have the time to deal with them in their schedule.
During the day you can just ride with the group, it’s easy and fun! In the evening, the guides always offer to go out for a meal and a drink with the group. Here, of course, you choose whether you want to join them or not.
Also remember that the distances can be quite long, that children will be sitting in the back all the time and that not all Vespa’s are equipped with an upper backrest/trunk to lean against.
Most important they need to be at least 1m25 to be able to reach the supports of the Vespa. Otherwise they cannot join the trip!
We're sorry, dogs are not allowed on The Vespa Trip due to the strict measures in the hotels. Sadly you will need your loyal friend at home.
